Up Aerospace & Spaceport America Featured in Fortune Small Business Magazine PDF Print E-mail

LAS CRUCES, NM – UP Aerospace, Inc., and Spaceport America are receiving national and international
attention as the first purpose-built spaceport moves closer to its construction groundbreaking in early 2009.
The December 2008 issue of Fortune Small Business features Jerry Larson, owner of UP Aerospace. Inc., and
the first tenant at New Mexico’s Spaceport America. Fortune Small Business is the offspring of Fortune
Magazine, which is well known for its emphasis on large- to mid-size businesses.

Larson’s company, UP Aerospace, Inc., has launched three successful flights in the past two years from
Spaceport America. His rockets have carried payloads and experiments for various clients including
educational experiments on every launch. Lockheed Martin has also tested leading-edge technology with UP
Aerospace, Inc. Larson is excited about the exposure that Fortune Small Business brings to his company. “UP
Aerospace has grown along with Spaceport America, and we’re each benefiting from the ingenuity that comes
along with this partnership,” Larson said.

New Mexico Spaceport Authority (NMSA) Executive Director Steve Landeene is enthusiastic about the
continuing coverage. “This exposure encourages talent from around the world to take a look at Spaceport
America and see that we are a real player enabling the commercial space industry. This coverage in particular
comes in the wake of many big steps forward for Spaceport America,” Landeene said. UP Aerospace, Inc.,
agreed to establish a ten-year agreement with the NMSA in April 2008 to make Spaceport America its home
for the company and its spaceflight operations.
Spaceport America has been working closely with leading aerospace firms such as Virgin Galactic, Lockheed
Martin, Rocket Racing Inc./Armadillo Aerospace, UP Aerospace, Inc., Microgravity Enterprises and Payload
Specialties. The NMSA currently projects vertical operations to increase in 2009 with construction of the
terminal and hangar facility for horizontal launches to be completed in late 2010.
